WORKING WITH HEADPHONES

I am very lucky to have an office but I hear almost as much noise as if it was a cubicle. I never realized that the white noise (chatting, doors closing, copy machine, phones ringing) was draining a lot of my energy until I started listening to music with headphones at work.  As an introvert, we are often over stimulated by our environment.  The music with headphones really cuts out the noise and helps you to find your center again.  Wear big headphones so your colleagues see that you are listening to music.  They will bother you less with nonsense and you will be able to stay in your bubble longer without being disturbed.
Take a break from your colleagues for an hour and you will see a difference. Let me know if you tried it and if it worked for you!

I'M INTROVERTED, SO SUE ME!

Yep, I decided that I would no longer apologize for being introverted.  Extroverts don't apologize for saying out loud every single thoughts that pop in their minds - even the most insignificant ones - so why should we for being more reflective?  I am drawing the line today.  I no longer want to feel ashamed because I want to be alone, lost in my thoughts. I no longer want to feel ashamed because I need a lot of downtime to recharge my batteries. I no longer want to feel ashamed for refusing an invitation to go out because I want to stay in, reading a book.  I no longer want to work against my nature but instead find tips to make my life easier.

Even if I feel more at peace with myself now than I did a few years ago, I am still struggling with the challenge of being introverted.  I hope that by sharing my experiences, I will help others and will understand better who I am.  I want this blog to be a diary about my life as an introverted girl.
